In 2006, a childhood hobby became a professional pursuit when Bobby Allen Roach launched Bobby Roach Photography. Armed with nothing more than a JVC GR-D270 camcorder that captured 0.8-megapixel stills, he had no idea where his photographic journey would take him. Between hilarious video clips, he shot humble images with sentimental value he wouldn’t realize until years later.
In 2017, Bobby is shooting with more sophisticated equipment and producing results quite different from the images he shot during the early years of BRP.
Bobby’s photos have received international acclaim through online galleries and contests, winning more than 80 awards.
Bobby was raised in Pittsylvania County. He lives and works in the Danville, Virginia area and enjoys the beauty and potential of the region of Southern Virginia. His favorite local hangouts are the The Gretna Theatre, the Riverwalk, Piedmont Mall, and the community of Whitmell.
BRP currently offers photography and photo processing services including airbrushing, retouching, and advanced photo editing.
Bobby holds a certificate in photography and digital imaging from Danville Community College and a bachelor’s degree in communication studies and journalism and a master of business administration degree with marketing concentration from Averett University. He is an advocate for Arc of Southside and supports their mission to protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Bobby left his position as assistant editor at the Star-Tribune newspaper in Chatham, Virginia, in 2016 to join the staff at Danville Community College as public relations and marketing specialist. Bobby also serves as vice president of the Gretna Merchants Association.
