The 2014 Bobby Roach Photography People of the Year have been announced.
In the weeks leading up to December 5, visitors to bobbyroach.com voted for who they believed deserved the awards.
Kody Knowles and Amie Pickeral were named Couple of the Year. They have been dating since April 7, although they met at a wedding in the summer of 2002. Knowles and Pickeral are both students, with the former studying business administration at Liberty University and the latter taking English courses with a concentration in creative writing at Regent University. Along with their studies, they have a few more plans for the coming year. “Our plans for the next year are to grow more deeply in love every single day, to continue our education, and to become proficient in the fine art of playing the kazoo. We love each other with all of our hearts and can’t imagine a single day without the other,” said Pickeral.
For the second consecutive year, Ashley Rayburn has been named Woman of the Year. She continued to pursue her passion for acting in 2014 and has starred in Gretna Little Theatre’s production of 9 to 5 as Margaret Pomerance. She was also a background extra in JC Films’ Uncommon starring Erik Estrada of CHiPS and Ben Davies of Courageous. Ashley won by a margin of 305 votes, receiving 395 total votes from visitors to bobbyroach.com. “I attribute my overwhelming vote lead to my friends and family,” said Rayburn.
“Being Bobby Roach Photography’s Woman of the Year is a wonderful accomplishment. It means a great deal to me to be chosen out of the other two beautiful contestants. It is a great honor and a huge privilege to be chosen to receive this award for the second year in a row. I would like to thank everyone who took the time to vote for me.”
Bobby Roach Photography’s 2014 Man of the Year was selected by committee in a break with tradition. The gentleman receiving this award has a master’s degree in secondary education and teaching and a bachelor’s degree in English, both from Christopher Newport University. He lives and teaches in Northern Virginia and has been instrumental to the development of BRP through his inspirational presence and supportive attitude. He has provided BRP with a perspective that is both renewed and fresh for the upcoming year. After much consideration, the person chosen to represent Bobby Roach Photography as Man of the Year is Alex Heisman.
Company owner Bobby Allen Roach congratulates the winners of this year’s awards. “I cherish the opportunity to celebrate these wonderful, accomplished people in this unique way. Here’s to a bright and prosperous 2015,” said Roach.
